Antwerp withdrawals could help Murray

Cam Norrie’s Indian Wells final appearance has seen him withdraw from the European Open in Antwerp this week, along with several other top stars.

World No.11 Felix Auger-Aliassime, Fabio Fognini, Pablo Carreno Busta and Ugo Humbert have also pulled out of the event, won in 2019 by Andy Murray.

The turnaround from the rearranged event in California to Belgium is not an option for many players, including Norrie and final opponent Nikoloz Basilashvili.

But the withdrawals may be good news for Murray, who is set to face Frances Tiafoe in the first round on Tuesday.
