Angry Iga just wants to forget Dubai debacle

Iga Swiatek threw her racquet at one point as frustration grew with her own listless showing in a 6-4, 6-4 upset loss on Friday at the WTA Dubai tournament.

The world No. 1 who came to the emirate with a third consecutive Abu Dhabi title to hand, was shown the door in a semi-final shock at the Aviation Club by qualifier Anna Kalinskaya.

“It’s been intense two weeks. I’m I’m angry, but on the other hand there aren’t many other players that survive these kinds of tournaments,” the WTA No. 1 said.

“I just have to let it go and accept it.”

The four-time Grand Slam winner added: ” I felt like I didn’t have power anymore to give, which doesn’t happen often.

“I just felt out of control a little bit because of that. Usually when I tell myself what to do, I can improve my game.

“Today I was like so out of power a little bit and tired that I just couldn’t.

“I don’t want to analyse the match, it was about the energy and intensity. I didn’t do a great job tonight. It’s hard for me to analyse from a tennis perspective.

Swiatek said she will head home for a few days and only travel next week to the Masters 1000 pair in Indian Wells and Miami.
