Carlos Alcaraz won the last five points in a 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 defeat of Sebastian Korda to power past the American and into the fourth round of the French Open on Friday.
The teenaged Spanish talent, seeded sixth after a rapid rise up the ATP rankings, found 24 winners as he broke Korda four times in little more than two hours.
The win was sweet revenge after Alcaraz lost to his rival in Monte Carlo last month – the only defeat for the 19-year-old Iberian so far on clay this season.
“In the early matches, I’m trying to have fun out there. I love playing tennis and playing on these courts, so I’m enjoying every second,” the winner said, adding:
“I would say that I’m aggressive all the time. It doesn’t matter if I’m losing, winning, tough moment, tough match, I keep my style the whole match.”
Alcaraz will bid for his second Grand Slam quarter-final on Sunday against Karen Khachnov, who beat Brit Cam Norrie 6-2, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.
