Carlos Alcaraz set up a semifinal clash with Rafa Nadal after beating defending champion Cam Norrie 6-4, 6-3 in the Indian Wells quarter-finals on Thursday night.
The young Spaniard hit 31 winners to just 14 unforced errors to see off the Brit.
“It’s so special to be able to play my first semi-final in a Masters1000 here in Indian Wells, in Tennis Paradise,” Alcaraz said.
“I’m enjoying every single second. I have no words to describe my feelings right now.”
Alcaraz twice trailed by a break in the first set, but then won the last three games to take a lead after winning the final five-deuce game — the longest of the night.
The second set was easier as Alcaraz broke Norrie three times before serving out the match to love.
