Alcaraz confirmed as new world No.1

Carlos Alcaraz’s US Open triumph has seen him jump three places to become the new world No.1 in the latest Pepperstone ATP rankings.

His opponent in Sunday’s final, Casper Ruud, has also climbed the rankings, moving up five spots to become the new No.2.

Rafa Nadal stays constant at No.3 with Daniil Medvedev dropping three spots to No. 4, with German Alexander Zverev at No.6.

Other big gains in the top 20 include US Open semifinalists Karen Khachanov and Frances Tiafoe – the former up 13 places to No. 18 and American Tiafoe up seven spots to No.19.

Aussie Nick Kyrgios rounds out the top 20, climbing five places after his deep run at Flushing Meadows.
