Carlos Alcaraz made quick work of Denis Shapovalov on Friday, dispatching the Canadian 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 for a place in the French Open fourth round.
The 20-year-old top seed spent just over two hours in motoring through against a former young gun who never broke through from the previous tennis generation.
Alcaraz now takes on Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, who put out Brit Cam Norrie 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.
Alcaraz now stands 33-3 this season, with 23 of his victories coming on the clay.
The Spanish seed had to recover after trailing 4-1 in the second set, but solved that problem by winning seven straight games and breaking early in the third as he streaked through in straight sets.
Musetti beat Alcaraz in their previous meeting last summer in the 2022 Hamburg final.
