The All England Lawn Tennis Club has released a tribute to the carers ‘We cheer for them’ with a video narrated by Roger Federer…
“This week, on the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth it was announced how we are using the collective strength of the Club, The Championships and the Wimbledon Foundation, combining the use of our facilities, resources and £1.2m of charitable giving to contribute to the support of local, national and international recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
“As has become tradition in recent weeks, we will all unite and join the nation in showing our support and clap for our carers.
“With this in mind, we thought you may be interested to see somewhat different line markings at Wimbledon to usual.
“A small number of our ground staff continue to maintain our Grounds and courts, and have created a tribute to the NHS, in recognition of their efforts on the front line, and those of everyone working hard to keep us safe, healthy and with access to provisions.
“You can take a behind the scenes look at the making of their creation by viewing this video.
“This year with play suspended there may not be sporting victors crowned or trophies presented, however countless champions have emerged as frontline workers battle tirelessly for us, and here at the AELTC we wanted to show our support through this video kindly narrated by Roger Federer.”
