Tennis Australia is in discussion with the South Australian government to quarantine a small number of players In Adelaide ahead of the Australian Open, which begins on February 8.
TA chief executive Craig Tiley has confirmed they hope to have some tennis in Adelaide this summer.
“We’re in the process of finalising that opportunity and possibility, so there’s nothing set in stone yet,” Tiley said.
“It’s a bit premature to commit to that.”
The vast majority of international arrivals are set to spent 14-days in quarantine at a number of Melbourne hotels, with players allowed out for a daily five-hour training and practice session.
“We’re working with the South Australia government who’ve been magnificent in supporting us,” Tiley said.
“We’re hoping that there’s an opportunity to have some professional tennis in their state during the course of this period.”
