Novak Djokovic took his first steps outside of quarantine with a barefoot stroll in Adelaide today.

“I want to thank again … police and health department officials for making this day possible,” world No.1 Djokovic said at a media call before today’s Memorial Drive exhibition match.

“Conditions were great for us, considering the circumstances.”

Djokovic stopped to sign autographs in a park before moving on to the city’s Wellington Square.

“A walk in the park, just putting bare feet on the ground,” he said, when asked what his first steps were.

“Just doing something that I didn’t have a chance to do. So just having space, that is what we all kind of missed.”

Djokovic then withdrew from today’s Adelaide exhibition event with a slight injury. He was due to play Italian Jannick Sinner. Filip Krajinovic will take his place.
