Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas plan to consolidate their personal relationship by pairing up for “love doubles” this weekend in Abu Dhabi.
The oft-injured Spanish WTA player and her sixth-ranked Greek boyfriend, have been an item since announcing they were together during last season.
But with Badosa injured for much of 2023 and Tsitsipas playing hit-or-miss tennis, there has never been time for togetherness on court.
But a relationship conducted mainly on social media, looks like coming together at the exhibition World Tennis League event in the UAE capital on Friday.
“With injuries this long there are always cracks, but I’m managing the situation the best I can,” Badosa said from the Gulf.
“I always try to see the positive side of things. There have been moments in my life that haven’t been like that, and there are days that are worse than others.
“But I know that this makes me stronger and gives me the experience to learn to handle it better each time.”
The No. 64 added: “I’m in a moment where I try to focus on the good things I have, and above all we all live in the moment because today we won’t live it anymore, so let’s enjoy it.”
As would be expected, Badosa labelled her boyfriend and top talent material.
“Before I even met him I loved how he played, his charisma on court. He’s a fighter, he has variety in his game.
“He is a potential No 1, easily. He is one of the best players in the world, but I think he hasn’t reached his limit yet.
“I really want to support him, because I think there are no limits to his potential.”
Others in the 16-strong exhibition field include Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek and Daniil Medvedev.
