John Isner will end his career once he loses at the upcoming US Open, the 38-year-old announced on Wednesday.
The serving phenomenon who was part of the longest match in tennis at Wimbledon, 2010,
Isner will compete in his 17th and final Open edition when play begins on Monday.
The 2011 and 2018 Dallas-based quarter-finalist will devote himself to his family, which includes four children “After 17+ years on the ATP Tour, it’s time to say goodbye to professional tennis,” he tweeted..
“This transition won’t be easy but I’m looking forward to every second of it with my amazing family.
“The US Open will be my final event. Time to lace ‘em up one last time.”
Isner holds the all-time record of 14,411 aces; of his 16 career singles titles, all but two were earned in the US by the travel-shy player.
