Top-level wildcard invitations are starting to land in the inbox of Caroline Wozniacki after the Danish mother of two announced her return to tennis starting in a month.
The 32-year-old who retired at the Australian Open in 2020, won the Melbourne Grand Slam title in 2018 and played a pair of US Open finals.
Wozniacki is already guaranteed a place in the main draw at next month’s Montreal Masters and the US Open.
The wife of former NBA player David Lee, has a two-year-old daughter, Olivia, and an eight-month-old son, James.
She will join a band of active mothers on the WTA, a group which includes Victoria Azarenka, Elina Svitolina, Taylor Townsend, Tatjana Maria, Evgeniya Rodina and Vera Zvonareva.
The former No. 1 with 30 career titles announced her return to the courts on social media:
“Over these past three years away from the game I got to make up for lost time with my family, I became a mother and now have two beautiful children I am so grateful for,” she posted on Twitter.
“But I still have goals I want to accomplish. I want to show my kids that you can pursue your dreams no matter your age or role.
“We decided as a family it’s time. I’m coming back to play and I can’t wait!”
