After winning a weekend title in Israel at the ATP 250 level, Novak Djokovic will carry on at another small event this week in Kazakhstan.

The former No. 1 who currently ranks 15th remains in with a good chance to make the field at November’s ATP Finals in Turin, due to the saving grace of his Wimbledon title three months ago.

As a Grand Slam winner, the Serb who has refused to get COVID-vaxxed and has been banned from competing in events in Australia and North America this season, need only remain inside the Top 20 in order to punch his ticket to Italy.

But just to be safe, Djokovic is competing in the lower reaches of the Tour for another week.

.”My goal remains the same – to win titles,” the 21-time Grand Slam champion said after defeating Marin Cilic in the Tel Aviv final.

“Wherever it is, I’m always happy to see myself prepared to compete to add new victories, fight to lift trophies.”

He added: “This week I’ve displayed a high level of tennis, I had an extra motivation to do well in this place.

“I hope that all this will help me in the coming weeks.”
