Popular Argentine Diego Schwartzman says the COVID-19 pandemic is becoming a strain on the tennis tour – both mentally and financially.
Speaking in London ahead of the ATF finals, Schwartzman said the year has been a big challenge.
“I believe that no sport can sustain this for a long time,” Schwartzman told La Nacion.
“We were able to play with a lot of cuts, from the money for the players, the access of your team to the tournaments, protocols, bubbles…
“Neither mentally nor financially it is very bearable.”
But he also conceded that tennis was in a better place than any other sports.
“The reality is that we are playing tennis, there are people who are really having a hard time,” he said.
